Stone Fruit and Lychee Bird Nets
Otco Lychee bird nets are made in two constructions, hexagonal and diamond. The diamond bird net is a heavier net with a 17.5mm hole size, 17 meters wide that can be joined overhead. Hex bird net is a throw-over net with a mesh size of 13mm, it too is 17 meters wide.
Material
High-density polyethylene knitted in a two-ply construction. Yarn thickness varies from 0.27mm to 0.18mm. All our netting is treated to make it resistant to most common agricultural chemicals and sprays.
Construction
Knitted interlocked construction that resists fraying. The material is UV treated, with the fiber containing the best Ciba-Geigy UV stabilizers. Edges are reinforced to form a strong selvedge.

Diamond nets have a 17.5mm hole size measured down one side of the square when hung. Hex net size is measured from one side to the other when hung, Agricultural Chemicals
Nearly all agricultural netting is made from polyethylene. PE can be damaged by contact with sulphur and/or chlorine. As these chemicals are often used on the farm, PE nets must be treated to make them inert. All Otco nets have been treated to make them resistant to most common agricultural chemicals.
UV Stability
Our products are U.V. stabilized with the addition of the best chemical resistant Ciba-Geigy inhibitors, mixed into the original batch material used to make the fiber. Technical details available on request.
Hanging Marks
A coloured hanging mark down the center of the net, helps in putting the net evenly over the trees. Different coloured marks on each side avoid cross over problems when using a machine to deploy the net.
Length/Width
The width or length of net is the distance across the width of the diamond, when the net is hung square. The left figure shows a 20mm net. Resulting in a width of diamond of 28.28mm. (A² + B² = C²), (20² + 20² = 800² or 28.28).
The right figure shows the same net stretched out to 32mm producing a run of net about 12% longer but reducing the width of the net.
When the 250 meter net is taken out of its bag it will stretch out to 350 meters along the ground, but when hung square the length will come back to the advertised 250 meters.
Otco nets are made from a stretched mesh. When it is stretched out to increase its length in one direction it will decrease in the other. This means that the net does not have to fit your rows exactly, it can be stretched or drawn in to fit.More Information
